How to Win Your Asylum Case Without Facing Deportation — Even If You Haven't Filed Yet!

Step-by-step strategies to protect your future, avoid costly mistakes, and stay in the U.S. legally

Lakisha N. Dean, Esq. - Managing Attorney

When you’ve practiced family law for over 15 years and assisted hundreds of clients, you learn a thing or two about the challenges families face. I’m Lakisha Dean of the Law Offices of Lakisha N. Dean LLC, and I make it my mission to put your family’s best interests first. Having been through it all personally and professionally, I truly understand the legal and emotional burdens that come with family law matters.

That's why I'm offering this immigration webinar. Our immigration webinar is designed to inform, support, and empower individuals and families facing a wide range of immigration-related concerns. Whether attendees are just beginning their journey or navigating complex legal challenges, the session will offer clarity, insight, and actionable steps for moving forward.
We will discuss:

The Challenges Immigrants Face - Confusing or constantly changing immigration laws and policies, long wait times and delayed processing, difficulty completing forms or gathering required documentation, fear of deportation or separation from family, language and cultural barriers that limit access to reliable help, criminal charges or prior violations that complicate status (crimmigration), financial hardship, misinformation, or fear of being scammed.

What Happens If You Don’t Take Action - You could lose eligibility for key immigration benefits, delay in filing may lead to longer wait times or missed deadlines, unresolved legal issues can result in denial, detention, or deportation, lack of status may affect your ability to work, travel, or reunite with family, risk of falling victim to misinformation or fraud.

Gurvinder Kaur, Esq. - Associate Attorney

Gurvinder Kaur is an attorney at the Law Office of Lakisha Dean, where she focuses on immigration and family law. Her background includes a judicial clerkship with the New Jersey Family Court, where she worked on matters involving divorce, custody, child support, and domestic violence. She also served as a prosecutor in the Domestic Violence Unit, handling contempt violations and criminal offenses such as assault, theft, and criminal mischief.

Through this work, Gurvinder saw firsthand how the criminal justice system disproportionately affects immigrants—an experience that shaped her deep commitment to advocating for clients facing both legal and cultural barriers. During law school, she earned a certification in immigration law and worked in an immigration law clinic, gaining hands-on experience with asylum, Temporary Protected Status (TPS), VAWA petitions, family-based petitions, naturalization, and crimmigration matters.

A Sikh American, native Punjabi and Hindi speaker, and naturalized U.S. citizen, Gurvinder draws from her own experience growing up in an immigrant household. Her early life navigating hardship and instability informs the deep empathy and clarity she brings to clients in vulnerable circumstances.

She joined the Law Offices of Lakisha N. Dean because the firm’s mission of justice, integrity, and advocacy for the underserved reflects the Sikh values she was raised with—seva (selfless service), compassion, and standing up against injustice. Gurvinder is honored to serve individuals and families during some of the most personal and pivotal moments of their lives.
